#20) The Cruelty of You

The cruelty of you, lies in the way, you rip my heart, and then you play

With every little jagged piece, and never care, but in the least

.

To see the way your fingers burn, and hear the words which make me yearn

To hold you close and keep away, the other hearts which all may lay

.

At your feet to knock you down, and steal away your precious crown

.

Which sits with pride upon your head, and keeps all love from your cold bed

.

The cruelty of you, is what I hate, which forces me to wait and wait

For you to bring the walls all down, and let me love you deep and sound

.

The cruelty of you, is what I fear, will leave me always standing here

Like some lost and tragic bird, which cannot fly and cries unheard

.

By the one who holds the key, that maybe just can set it free, and loose the chains of bitter fate, which force us each to wait and wait

.

The cruelty of you, is what I love, that keeps me hanging, far above

The traps all waiting, to crush my heart

And tear me, limb from limb, apart
